Learn controlled painting techniques for creating details and depth on a 13”x10” quilt top of Red Rock Canyon, NV.  We will be using Setacolor fabric paints.  A fabric kit will be provided in class and you will be using my paints, medium, and brushes.

Fused Applique Quilt from a Photo

3 Hour Class

See the processes for creating a pictorial quilt from a photograph in this demo class.  We will cover making a pattern from a photo and construction by fused appliqué.  Paint enhancement will be discussed.  There will be some hands-on activity.

Pictorial Quilting: Photo to Applique to Paint

4 ½ to 5 Day Class

Annette will take you through the process of making an original pictorial quilt from your own photograph.  (This is not photo transfer.)  You will learn how to make a pattern from your photo and then construct your quilt top using a raw-edge fused appliqué technique.  You will also learn how to use textile paint to add details, depth, shadows and highlights to increase the visual impact of your quilt.  Using good composition and creating depth are emphasized.  Quilting ideas will be discussed and Annette will show you how to make an artist’s facing to finish the edges of your quilt.

From Photo, To Pattern, To Quilt

6 hour class 

Learn how to turn a photograph into a pattern and then into a quilt in this technique class.  Also learn how to make an artist’s facing to finish the edges.  You will learn the process by making Rocky Mountain Sunrise (16.5” x 13”) using the fused applique technique. (See finished sample below)

Painted Poppy

6 hour class

Learn controlled painting techniques to enhance your pictorial quilts.  Setacolor fabric paints are used in a single layer to add visual depth and details to a fused appliqué poppy.  Project size:  8.75”x 9.75”.   You will be working from a kit provided in class.

Painting Calla Lilies

6 hour class

This is your chance to try fabric painting without having to purchase all the supplies first.  Learn a few simple painting techniques to create 3 dramatic calla lilies on an 13.25" by 15.5" inch project.  We will be using Setacolor textile paints.  You will start with the basic flower shapes cut out of fabric and then paint on the details.  You will be working from a kit provided in class and using my paints, brushes, and mediums.
